    I usually change mine every 4k or so. I only use OEM parts though.

    We had a 93 Escort, great car. Wife want a SUV, she knew it had to be a Ford product.
    Well she goes behind my back and gets a 2002 Mazda Tribute LX 3.0, at least Ford owns them.
    Lucas Oil Products FTW.
    I use the Synthetic Oil Stabilizer, two quarts in the PSD and one quart in the Ranger and the Tribute each at the change, with Motorcraft filters. The oil doesn't even start to turn black till after 6,000.
    Wife put 9K on her ride in 6 months this past year.

    last time I went about 5000 miles without changing my oil and it was blacker than the tread on my tires. I'll never go more than 3000-4000 again. and thats crazy that this dude drives 500-1000 miles daily :birgits_tiredcoffee
