Copart I put in a bid for this 1982 F150 stepside. It's a 4x4 with a 351 and standard transmission I know that they changed from the M motor to the W in 1982, anybody know where I can check the vin to see what motor it has? It'd be nice to know what gears too. VIN: 2FTDF14GXCCA41911
nvm, should be the windsor, check this https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools/vinResults.asp VIN Results New Search VIN: 2FTDF14GXCCA41911 World Manufacturer Identifier - 1st, 2nd, 3rd Positions VIN Code: 2FT Assembly Country: CANADA Make: Ford Body Style: Pickup Restraint System Type (Passenger Cars) or Brake Type and GVWR Class (Trucks and Vans) - 4th Position VIN Code: D GVWR Range: 0 - 6,000 Pounds Line,Series Body Type - 5th, 6th, 7th Positions VIN Code: F14 Vehicle Line: F-150 Vehicle Type: Truck Engine Type - 8th Position VIN Code: G Engine: 5.8 L Cylinders: 8 Fuel: Gasoline Engine Manufacturer: FORD Model Year - 10th Position VIN Code: C Model Year: 1982 Assembly Plant - 11th Position VIN Code: C Assembly Plant: ONTARIO TRUCK PLANT, ONTARIO Production Sequence Number - 12th - 17th VIN Code: A41911 Prod Sequence Number A41911 Additional Information Wheel Axles Wheelbase 249.8
No engine pic.... I found that also, but it didn't really tell me anything new... Also, there is no way it has a 250" wheelbase
High Performance Options for the 351M/400 Engine .: Articles Even if it is the M block, its not a bad thing.
well, ford referred to the M as the 5.8M, whereas the windsor was the 5.8L. Either way, its a win, I'd love to have that truck. Most likely has either 3.50 or 3.55 gears, depending on whether it has a 9" or 8.8" rear.
Yeah...and the 1982 year was when the switched motors...making it more confusing. I'm pretty sure that it had the 9" rear end, because it's a 4x4 with a 5.8, but who knows. I was hoping for at least 3.73s... Whatevs, they'll end up being 4.56s lol Planning on making this into an off-road rig. Get some 33" M/Ts for starters and rhinoline the whole thing, then upgrade whatever breaks
