I have an uncle that bought one of these as soon as they came out and traded it in 99 for a brand new Lightning. It was a cool truck, but his Lightning was way cooler. Here's a clean one for $5500 1998 F-150 Nascar Edition Truck
ford is genius in this just like Apple is. Come on, how many times are the drones gonna buy an apple product just because of a case upgrade, only to get duped to realize that minor upgrade was just a cost effective way to bring in more $$$ before releasing the TRUE upgrade.
Let's take a fleet level truck, throw some black wheels and embroidered seats in it and charge a premium for it. The NASCAR fans will eat it up. BRILLIAINT! The thing doesn't even have power windows.
I agree now, but looking back they were cool for the time. At the time there was nothing else out on the market like it. The previous Lightnings were gone. Chevy had dropped the 454SS trucks. There wasn't anything that was a "sport" truck out. Looking back at them now, yeah they're silly as fugg. But at the time the idea was a decent idea. There were things that I didn't care for even back then. First off the rims. Nothing against them, but they're cheap steel wheels. The other problem I had was the tacky Nascar graphics on the bed. Back in 98 I was a huge Nascar fan and I still thought the decals were goofy. The stance of the trucks were modified too. I believe they had 2" drop shackles and maybe even 1" drop springs on them. They didn't sit like a normal 2WD F150 back then. Looking back now, the coolest part on those trucks were the Roush exhaust tips that came on them. Those were cool tips and really still are.
