    Hey everybody,

This is my first post on the forum. I registered on a couple other Ford Forums for different problems and got no responses, but I figure I'll give this one a shot. :Caffeine:

So basically here is the deal, I got a 99 Explorer Sport. The High Beams suck, I don't even use them, the low beams/Fog combo works great.

I plan on getting 2 offroad lights for the front bumper (Just a cheap 100w set for now). I plan on making a bracket and mounting them along the top of the bumper sort of like this.

Right now the light combinations are:

    Parking lights
    Parking lights + fogs
    Parking + low beams
Parking + low beams + fogs
    Parking + High beams

The Fog lights don't come on with the highbeams.

What I want to do is be able to flick my highbeams on and have all my lights come on (Parking + High + Low + Fog) including the new off road lights. But I still want a toggle switch for the off road lights. I would still like the Fog lights to be able to toggle on or off. Does this make sense in comparison to the wiring I'll have to do?

I'm not really sure how to do it though, I am using another thread on this forum as reference.

    http://www.fordfullsize.com/forum/f67/how-wire-offroad-lights-into-high-beam-4399/

I'm trying to get a list of things together that I need so I don't have to make more then one trip out.

From what I can tell I need:

Relay (What kind of Relay would I need?)
    14 gauge wiring
    ATC fuse circuit

So what would I do with the old wiring and Relay? and am I going to have to splice everything coming out of each light? What would I do with the harness going into the relay box?

    hey man, welcome aboard!

what youll want to do is use a relay to drive the factory fog lights to come on when the high beams are on. use the power wire from the highbeam side of the headlight circuit as the switch for the relay, hook the fog lights up to the load side of the relay, run a lead to the power side of the relay to the battery with a fuse inline and the ground side to ground. i would also do the same thing to power the aftermarket lights. or you could just connect both sets of lights to the load side of the relay but i would fear you would have dim lights and would have to upgrade the wiring to a 10AWG wire.

you dont want to run all of that off of one circuit. i hate messing with factory harnesses man, not a fan of it either. if i were you i would just wire the aux. lights to the highbeams with a switch.

i take it you also want to turn the aux. lights on whenever you want, youll have to splice an actual toggle switch inline with the lead that comes from the highbeam power wire to the switch terminal on the relay. youll have to run two seperate leads to that one pin. youll also have to ground and fuse your switch.

sorry if this came out as a bunch of babbling lol let me know and i will clarify it for you.

Joe should be in here soon to check my work. lol

You'll need two relays, one for the off-road lights and one for your fog lights.
Your high/low beams use the same bulb, so it's not possible to have them on separately.

Have your switch for you off-road lights in the cab.
Here's your relay. Make sure you get the 5-prong.

You'll have the same wiring setup for each set of lights.

I've attached another picture that will show you how to wire the relays up. The only addition is wiring the 87A pin in the middle to your highbeam wire in the headlight harness. Do that for each relay and that wire will then trigger the relay ON and your lights will come on also.

glad you came up with pictures lol im too lazy.

didnt notcie he said he wanted high and low beams on at the same time. only way thats possible is if you have a dual bulb housing, pretty sure youve got a single bulb

    Ok great!

So I can't toggle from low beams to low + high beams together? I've only seen it done on a volkswagon and it was sick, had it running with the hella fogs. Well if I can't do it that way then that's not a big deal. The fog lights should provide enough light at short distances. Plus I don't want my housing to melt.

yea pretty sure you have a double filament bulb. if you had a dual bulb set up you could run both but that would get hella hot!

the aux lights should have a switch and all wiring included in the kit.

It could be done with a five relay setup.

Just on short term use, like Chris said I
wouldn't run both high and low beam
factory headlights for long time periods due to
    temperature issues.

Give me some time and I'll draw it up.
