shudnt charge anythang , because most trucks r factory ptm and they would paint them with the rest of the truck so they shudnt charge u .... it wudnt be any dif
Thanks. Now i have to wait to get the tape off the windows. There is also an outline of the square holes on the glass. I hope those come out.The only concern I have about the PTM is paint flaking off. My mom used to work a a conversion plant years ago and they used to paint over chrome. She said everytime they had complaints about the paint flaking off.
Hit your glass off with some acetone and it should take care of any residue and shading the covers may have left. Painting chrome can be done if it's prepped properly. But it's usually easier to swap your chrome bumper for one of the black XL bumpers being it's easier to paint the XL bumpers.
I'm guessing the XL bumper is the same but just painted instead of chrome right? I can get a new grille surround but I'm not sure about the mirror covers. I want them painted. And acetone is bad if it gets on the paint right? :jester
I painted my chrome grille surround and mirror caps. All I did was use Adhesion Promoter, primer and sprayed em down. The mirror caps were sprayed with the Dupli-Color Colormatch paint from a rattle can. When painting stuff like that, ADHESION PROMOTER IS YOUR BEST FRIEND.
It would be best to still just get a new rear bumper right? Everything will get painted all at once along with the truck at a body shop.
I personally would get a different bumper from an XL, if I were painting mine dude. That said I think the chrome could be painted and made to last too. Being the rear bumper it's less likely to get the "road blasting" the front bumper will get so pitting would be less likely. But if you can score an XL bumper for cheap, that's already primed and ready for paint I'd take that route personally, but that's just me.
