2002 F-150 4x4 Inner & Outer Tie-Rod End Remove and Install

    Tie Rod End
    Removal & Installation

    Inner

    To Remove:

    1) Safely raise and support the vehicle.
    2) Remove tire and wheel assembly.
    3) Mark a reference point from the tie rod end to the wheel spindle tie rod adjusting sleeve.

    Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Inner tie-rod cotter pin and castellated nut
    • Tie-rod end using special tool (211-003 or equivalent)
    • Tie-rod end by loosening the toe set jam nut, and count and record rotations.

    To Install:

    1) Install or connect the following:
    • Tie-rod end
    • Inner tie-rod cotter pin and castellated nut (Torque to 56-75 ft lbs)
    • Tire and wheel assembly
    • Lower the vehicle.
    • Check and adjust wheel alignment.
    Outer

    To Remove:

    1) Safely raise and support the vehicle.
    2) Remove tire and wheel assembly.
    3) Mark a reference point from the tie rod end to the wheel spindle tie rod adjusting sleeve.

    thats a good diagram to have, its not hardto do once u get under there but i had no idea the first time i did it
