Tiguans are to small, with a second kid coming we need a bit more space. Looked into touareg both gas and tdi but all of them in our price range just have too many miles. The only reason I'm looking at the jeep is for the diesel otherwise it would be 4.6 explorer. The European diesels are just too much cash. I've driven the crd liberty, the problem with the grand Cherokee is there are only two for sale I can find, both about 2 hours, one north and one south. I'm just trying to do as much homework as I can before driving 2 hours ha ha. We went and looked at one nearby with a hemi last night and we like the space, the cabin and the looks of it. Just trying to track down the "quirks" you won't find on an edmunds vehicle review. I have nothing against the vw just comes down to price. So far I looked at a 2006 4.6 explorer Eddie Bauer, 75k miles 4wd for $17k a 2006 crd liberty sport with 90k miles 4wd for $12k, a 2009 explorer 4.6 xlt 4wd with 50k miles for $21k, and we are planning to look at either of the Cherokees, ones an 07 the other is an 08 the 07 has 66k miles loaded 4wd for 18900 and the 08 is the same with 42k miles for 23k. So it looks like we can get everything we want on the Cherokee for about the same as an explorer but we get the bonus of the diesel and the long life of the motor. Yeah dude! 12! At best. 3.0 2wd with 120k, the tires on it are maybe one size bigger for a nice look, we bought it that way. I've been very disappointed in it. It's been reliable without any big problems for 30k miles and everything but the mileage is terrible. its starting to tick, it has an idle issue I've fixed many times, needs rear brakes (drums), new springs and new tires. I just don't want to invest the money in it. We paid 6 grand for it, and we've had it for 3 and a half years. It's done it's job. We take my truck whenever we go somewhere far since it gets high teens to low 20s for mileage and its just going to be a hassle with 2 kids, one being in a carry carseat and the other in a booster, plus a stroller and having to park in the back of the lot. I'm done with that ha ha. Sent from your Mom's house using Tapatalk
Why not a 4.0 explorer? Ours gets over 20 highway an 15-17 in town. We test drove it compared to te 4.6 an I liked the 4.0 better. It seemed smoother
The 4.0 is a nice motor, it's just not a 200k motor like the 4.6. Plus I'd rather have the extra power for about the same mpgs. We plan on keeping this for a long time, and once the kids are in school and out of car seats my wife wants a car not an SUV, so it might be something we keep and ill be driving. I know I'll want the v8 or the diesel ha ha. my truck should be close to 200k by then so a dd to keep the miles down would be nice. Sent from your Mom's house using Tapatalk
What's your price range? An aviator would be dope. We were gonna get one instead of the explorer but my dad said idk probably too nice for my little brothers first car haha. It had 60k and was 13k
Around 20-22 is our max. Sadly the 4.0 doesn't go for much less than the 4.6 people out here don't want the v8s too many hippies ha ha Sent from your Mom's house using Tapatalk
Nope. Slightly used we are lookin at 25-28 and that's base or 2wd. I haven't even looked at flex, I'm not a fan. Sent from your Mom's house using Tapatalk
Edge sport is sexy, lookin at the upper 20s for one those with higher miles than the explorer. It was an option for a bit Sent from your Mom's house using Tapatalk
