then 4.56 is the max you want to go with. 4.56 and the OD gear in the manual trans is a tall gear and with 35"s is almost too much gear

Will 4.56s and 35s give me a little bit more "pep" than stock gears and stock size tires?

yes. my truck ran great on 4.56 and 35"s and would go easily from 70 to 85 in OD no downshift

hmmm i think I'm leaning towards 4.56s now, especially coming from a guy that has had the 4.2. Thanks man.
Where did you buy your gears? I'm looking to buy from diffsonly.com

depends on what your doing? If your not going to jump sizes in tires then there is no need for it.

In my own imaginary world, where. Respect for wome
its not the size of your engine that is the determining factor, but your original R&P. I assume w/ your 4.2 that you have atleast the 3.55?

Here is the formula to figure out the proper gear to get you back w/in factory powertrain specs.

(New Tire Size DIVIDED BY oem Tire) TIMES Oem R&P = New R&P.

    Example of my truck:

    35/30= 1.1666 * 3.73= 4.35
Because of that, I went w/ the 4.30, which you can get as a ford part since they make that R&P for the mustang's 8.8.
