3.73's were optional on the XLT but a 255/70 is a 31" tire and the standard size for the 4x4 XLT.

this is what I made up. . I still have to drill holes in the 4''x3/8 piece of flat so I can bolt it to the hitch witch bolts to the frame

pretty sure you have this backwards... supposed to be 30/35*3.55=3.04
caus i have 30/37*3.55=2.87 and thats why i need to re gear to 4.56's cause
30/37*4.56=3.69 bringing me closer back to stock gear restoring gas mileage and torque putting less stress on the drivetrain

No, its correct. 37/30*3.55= 4.378 which is how you get to a 3.55. if you went 37/30*3.73 = 4.60 which a 4.56 would put you back to stock w/ a 3.73 gearing (which ford did do and would be acceptable and tollerable by your tranny). If you think I am wrong, google it.

Your way of thinking is correct too, since you did it this method:

(Oem Tire Size DIVIDED BY New Tire Size) TIMES New R&P = Oem R&P

all you did was solve for Y, when I solved for X. same result. try not to insult people before you do your research. :flipthebird:
