    Update on the falken wildpeaks

AMAZING in snow! Damn surprised how good they are. Was hitting the back roads with 1' of snow at 50 mph in 2wd with absolutely no issues. Of course the weight in the bed helped. But if I had tried that **** with my old mud tires, I woulda been in the ditch so fast. Because under the snow it was packed slick like ice

Hows the tread wear? How do they do on wet pavement/asphalt now that you got some miles on it

    And boom goes the dynamite.

The tread wear is stupid good. These things will last me quite a while. And on wet pavement, great tire. So far, in everything I've put them through they are amazing.

Think of it like this, they aren't the "best" in any one category, but they are great in all categories.

A mud tire will be best in mud, but will lack in other areas. Same with other terrain specific tires.

    If that makes sense.

ok, so, im starting to have the timing chain tick. which means as it gets worse, ill have to pull the engine to replace all the timing chains. sounds like fun. right?

so i figured if i have to pull my engine, why not build up a mildly built 5.0 to replace it with. then sell the 4.0 with its new timing chains to recoop some of the cost.

got my eyes open for an explorer 5.0 in the classifieds. fingers crossed i can find a low mileage one!

    small update.

not going to be spending any extra money on the ranger for a while.
will still do maintenance and what not. but no more mods for now.

hoping to focus on rebuilding my savings, as due to some family stuff they've been wiped out.

also, going to start tearing down my moms old '72 gran torino. start the long ass restoration process on that.

and another update on the tires.

after having them in real winter conditions for a while now, ill say this.

    fantastic.

have yet to let me down. not once have i been worried about spinning out, or getting stuck. they just bite through anything.
back in november we got a good storm, well it melted since then and formed a nice 4-5" think layer of crusty ice snow, with powder underneath. and its snowed since, so its powder, crusty ice, powder. a deadly combo and prone to making vehicles stuck. these tires just tear right through it. even at slow wheel speeds.

on icy highways, amazing. of course reduces speeds, and weight in the bed since its a light truck. but very very impressed with these tires. and they will let you drift amazingly well lmao. just gotta use some extra throttle, they wont let you down.

did get a tad squirly on the highway the other day. banked corner, was warm so slushy with blowing snow making ice patches. punched it trying to pass a semi (****er was only going 60 km/h in a 100 km/h zone) and the back end started to swing out. but with these tires, its so predictable as to what it will do, and let off the gas it grabbed traction and i straightened it out with barely any counter steer at all.

my mom wasnt even sketched out at all. i made a comment "if that was trevor (my brother) hed of been in the ditch."

which hees done a few times lmao. and hes running duratracs...
