97-03 Shock Removal and Installation

    Shock Absorber

    Removal & Installation

    To Remove:

    1. Safely raise and support the vehicle.

    ***WARNING***
    Only lower the rear axle enough to access the rear spring.

    2. Support rear axle housing assembly with a jack.
    3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    4. Lower shock absorber bolt.
    5. Upper shock absorber nut.
    6. Shock absorber.

    To Install:

    1. Install or connect the following:
    • Shock absorber
    • Upper shock absorber nut
      A) Torque to: 22-29 ft. lbs. (30-40 Nm)
    • Lower shock absorber bolt
      A) Torque to: 56-75 ft. lbs. (77-103 Nm)
    4. Remove the support jack.
    3. Lower the vehicle.
