Well a little update along with bein puzzled.

Tore the heads off to find a 13mm nut in the #7 cyl. Not sure how it ran with that in there. Also it didnt bend a rod and only put a couple nicks in the piston. Theres no way it fit through the plug hole or through the intake valve. My thoughts are that the PO did a head gasket repair and lost it in there and that's why they sold it to me. The motor has a JY timing cover on it so evidentally they broke that trying to disassemble things. Probably didn't realize there were bolts that go through the oil pan into it.

Anyways, id post pics but photobucket doesn't really work on my phone so I will post pics as soon as I get back to my laptop.

Someone replaced some valves at some point that explains the nut in there

Well more info on this MUTT motor lol

The motor has an X casted in the intake valley of the block which means its a mustang block NOT the W casted windsor truck block. So evidentally the PO just dropped a used bottom end (maybe whole motor) in instead of replacing the parts in the bottom end.

Golley, you are finding all sorts of surprises with this rebuild... can't wait to see how this turns out, I am considering rebuilding mine or just looking for a new/used motor as well...

This is the kinda thing you usually find when digging into an older vehicle.

One plus side to it is the X casted motor was rated @ 260 hp compared to the 225 the truck block got.
