I have a 99 7.3 Powerstroke for about 4 months now. I noticed just a small oil drip to the rear of the motor about a month ago, thought nothing of it with being a diesel. I now how two large drips which are now leaveing puddles of oil and having to add oil every two weeks or so. I attempted to trace the aource of the oil leak coming up empty handed with oil to the front and rear of the valley. Doea anyone have an idea of what might be leaking. The oil seems to be running from above down the rear of the motor over the oil filter and down as well as between the trans and rear of the motor. Like I said I have oil in both the front and rear of the valley. No oil on valve covera once so ever. Ive read many forus on what it coild be id just like to throw it oit there to see if maybe someone has a better idea of whwre to start before I go ripping it apart tomorrow to chexk the Hpop, turbo pedestal and so on. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advanve. Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
The hpop plugs and the upper and lower o rings on the turbo pedestal would be where I would start, they're both really common. I had an oil leak I couldn't find too, had the hpop plugs/ o rings or whatever they are fixed, and it still leaked. I just did the turbo pedestal o rings and appears as if it has stopped. Could have been the pedestal, or could have been both... Ha ha Sent from your Mom's house using Tapatalk
^ x2 I have a couple drips coming from the top rear on mine but nothing major. My friend's 2002 does the same thing but ours only does it after 4-5K on an oil change. It doesn't leak on a fresh oil change. We call it the oil change drip detector. Had a neighbor with a brand new in 2002 KR F250 Crew Powerstroke. He has more money than God, and the puddle of oil under the truck was massive. The local Ford dealership changed the turbo pedestal O-rings, still leaking. They then changed the entire turbo pedestal mount. Still leaking. They admitted to the owner they couldn't find the leak or fix it. He traded it in on a KR F150 Crew that he is still driving today.
