Hopefully I won't have to go that far after adding the second battery. We'll see how she handles with everything installed. I know right now, that if my heater is blowing on high and I turn the high beams on, the heater slows down, so I need a little help. I picked up the 2500lb winch from Harbor Freight today for $50 with a coupon. It should work out ok for my use, but be warned, it only has a 5% duty cycle. Ex: 45 SECONDS on, 15 MINUTES off.... I think the tool box is going to be my first big project, a lot of things going on with it (Winch, Compressor, Fuse Box) that will come into play with other things.
Back in Alaska finally. Did the oil change with 5w-30 and a motorcraft filter, then swapped the winter tires on. My Red Top finally quit holding a charge (I bought it back in December of 2010!), did a couple 3 hour drives and my SCT was still showing the alt putting out 14.5v the whole time, and it would barely start the next day. Carquest was having a sale and I ended up picking up a new Red Top for $175 out the door. Also had the driveshaft drop out of the carrier bearing again while in Anchorage, pushed it back in and did a quick fix for now. Ford wants $1092 for a new driveline with the same non-serviceable bearing. Salvage yard had a used one with 75k miles for $270 but same problem.... So I went to the local driveline shop and they are building me a brand new one. 1350 Spicer Joints and fully rebuildable bearings.
Crawling underneath reminded me of all the work that needs to done. I need to fix the exhaust (remove the bailing wire...) POR-15 the entire frame, fix the air tank and hose. Figure out why the air horn solenoid isn't working. Rewire my grill lights. Fix the ground on one reverse light. AND re-run the RCA cable/hook up RCA cable for the backup camera.
