everything is in that first post of mine, #4 in this thread, the "truck mod central" link. he states in it that he found out from an auto electric guy that w/ the new systems and computers on cars, its better to stay away from isolators and go this route:

Use a 3 or 4 post solenoid (on the 4 post you only use one of the smaller posts)
hook main battery to one side and the other battery to the other side.
run a power wire to one of the smaller post. (it is just an on and off switch)

The down side to the solenoid setup is that both batteries are charged the same. So when one is low. the solenoid can't stop charging the fully charged battery.

if you read that post, you will see all the pics of how he installed his, and he has a ton of power add-ons, like inverters, straight 110 plugs mounted in his dash, etc.

If your not going to do the work yourself, find yourself an RV dealer/ mod shop. Most of those RV's have a dual battery setup, infact that is probably your best bet to find a good isolator.

called my stereo install shop and they said they could do it and rough ballparked me a 175 parts/ labor excluding the yellow top battery.
That would be the setup where both batterys charge and most addons will be ran off the yellow top.

The shop I use gives me a discount because my aunt taught the owners kids in school. They know there stuff too, they are the shop the players of the Memphis Grizzlies go to. But if they hadnt been able to do it I would have gone to a rv shop.

Anybody think I will need to upgrade my alternator? I will be running regular equipment plus : electric fans (2), 2 12 volt compressors for train horns, Hid headlights, hid fogs, 4 hid offroad lights, and 2 amps for subs and door speakers. I think that is it. All HIDs will be 55w

Anybody know a good price on one and what output it should have. I dint know what the factory one puts out. I may wait and if I have any problems, then upgrade.

sounds like a good price. i would definitely upgrade to a HO alternator just like SD's have when not equipped w/ dual ALT.
