Finally ordered a new sub since my kenwood shallow 10" failed. I am getting a rockford fosgate r2sd2-10. Probably not the best but it was cheap. I have a question, at what point does one need a cap.? I only have a 760 watt Xplod to drive the sub. I am only going to wire it to 1 channel because bridged I blew up the Kenwood. Also what are good 5x7/6x8 door speakers?

I don't think you'll need one, hell hook it up if at night you're lights go dim, do the big three upgrade first if still then get one but imo you shouldn't

You should be fine without a cap with an amp that size

Thanks for the help/ideas guys. I never had a cap on my ranger with 2 12's and an 800 watt American Legacy amp but wasn't sure. Sub will be here in a few days so I can always check voltage with the sub on. I have had good luck with Kenwood, until I blew the sub up with my little amp...

if your gonna wire it to just one out of the two channels, wire it like this diagram. In this diagram it shows a monoblock amp but you will do the same just one one of your channels.no need for cap

Ended up losing the Xplod, apparently it got rattled when I got stuck in the creek. Got a Rockford Fosgate 250-1, wired it just like the picture. Sounds pretty good, the Edge Evo says 13.7-14 volts, not gonna blow out any windows but it's pretty loud and it WORKS! Thanks for all the help guys

If i remember correctly you only need a cap if your running a thousand watts or more and then its 1 farrat for every thousand watts so youll be fine
