Many muffler shops will tell ya they cannot legally put an exhaust system on without the cats if it originally had them unless you know someone who will do it without the cats. IDK if you still had the O2 sensors working with the old Magnaflow. If so you would still need bungs (fittings) welded in somewhere in the new exhaust for the O2 sensors. IMO call around and ask before just driving down to the muffler shop.
Yes it sounds terribly loud!! I will call around for prices and stuff but if all goes to hell i can have a good friend weld it up for me, but the headers have places for the O2 sensors and im going to have the cats cut off when i get there so they will not be doing anything illegal.... Just welding pipes together
Alright fellas. Got quoted from one shop it would be 280 bucks to run the pipes back. I only called and didnt warn them about the no cats thing. I went to another shop who said they could get me right away to take a look and they said 650 and both me and the shop are taking a risk doing an exhaust without cats. Highway patrol has sniffers on their vans that can smell cars/trucks without cats and write em up for a big fat juicy ticket. Do i take the chance of running without cats? Or should i buy some magnaflow high flows? I really dont drive highway that much but still dont want to be nervous when doing it. Guy at the shop said i need cats that have the same amount of CFMs or something that my engine has so it gets all the smelly stuff clogged. I dont know which direction to go because this guy scared the **** outta me with the pricetag on the tickets. I already ordered the headers without cats and really dont feel it would be a problem but i need some more input.
Headers come in and go on tomorrow!! Super excited. Ive been waiting tooo long for these damn things. Pics will be posted tomorrow. Just a quick update on the trucks status... lol Anybody know what size bolts hold the plastic throttle body cover on? I know they are 10 mm but dont know threads or length...
