i too have the cobra ultra 19 whatever, $35 @ wally world,

go to a local truck stop store, usually larger gas stations or we have a "mall" with a trucker store, they will have all kinds of antenna options, and may even have discount bins

i have two 4ft fiberglass whips on my toolbox, one a firestik w/ adjustable top, the other is a generic firestik, cut to tune, the 4ft whips are huge, 3ft should work fine, i'm running two for looks and hooked them both up and they work awesome together, only about 5-6 ft apart, also if you are going to be going off road, get springs for the bottom, i hit tree branches all the time and it keeps from breaking them, also have hit clearence signs at drive thrus too, they do lay at about a 45 degree angle at speed, one down side is when hitting bumps off road they do sway and hit the back of the cab, no big deal

next would be to look into an SWR meter, a friend of mine already had one, the firestik you just spin the knob in or out to adjust, the other was pretty close without even having to adjust it

thats the best pic i can find right now
