I have a 88 4.9l f150. Under the hood and engine bay really needs to be cleaned. How can I go about this? I just don't want to accidentally screw something up thanks

I always spray under the hood of my truck. I just try not to soak the electrical stuff.

I get a rag and wipe off as much as I can. Then get it yet and repeat, finally get some armor all and finish it.
Be really careful not to get any water into your air filter or down into the spark plugs.

Use low pressure on the top of the motor too. I forgot to mention that earlier.

Engine degreaser in a spray can.
I use two or three cans.
Then low pressure water hose washing.
