Here is a how to on converting your halogen hellas to HIDs,

Hella 500/700 HID retrofit - YouTube

the HIDs I used are from DDM tuning, H3 bulb, 55W

my application is an 01, but the actual light conversion would be the same...duh

So comparatively to a light bar they look similar if not better from the pics?

comparing to my 40LED bar in a combo pattern the HIDs have a lot more distance.

my vision X optimus spot lights have a similar distance but are pretty much a pencil beam literally. the HID beam has a better spread than the LED spots

Hmm gotcha. That's what it looked like an I think the round lights look wayyy better on our trucks with all the roundness of the trucks vs a bar

I've been thinking of mods an ive been thinking retro an stuff but honestly right now I'm leaning towards a roof rack kinda deal with the front edge being slanted like this / and mounting lights on it. I've noticed I haul alot of stuff that I lean against my roof an if I had the rack/chase truck/ basket rig on top It could rest against that vs having to constantly put towels down.

I dont haul much stuff often that is very long. I did haul home some rebar on my roof, from the bottom of my bed through the rack, I could almost tie it down to my front bumper. when I get a tube bender I want to build a chase rack that will mount the 50 on, put in a larger trans cooler (when I do that it may take up too much room for the hellas to fit..we will see)

I've had my German made Hellas so long the coating
is coming off the reflector bowls.
Guess I could separate the housing and
"re-chrome" the bowls with a quality paint and HID retrofit them.

you should! I thought about getting a super cheap trashcan from walmart made of plastic and make a cube minus one side and use that to store the wire and ballast, and "plastic weld" it to the back of the hella light, then its sealed from the weather and its only 2 wires you have to worry about coming out of it.
