1999 f-250 4x4 5.4 motor. Saturday night on the home from bow hunting went to set cruise control and would not engage. When I pushed either the power on or the set button cruise indictor light in dash come on as buttons where pushed and go right out. Once I had slowed down coming thru a small town . Started back up to highway speed tried it again and it engaged worked fine all the home. Anyone have an ideas. Maybe brake light switch staring to go bad not letting it engage. I'm stumped?
Your e-brake might be dragging a little bit. I had the same problem in my truck. The parking brake has pressed down one click, not enough to turn the light on, but enough to kill the cruise control
