yeah that does matter, for tractors there is a type 1 and type. im not sure of the additives, but the type 1 is more volatile than type 2 and ignites easier. I imagine it could be a similar diesel type.

You can also try a thinner oil, the oil thickens the colder it gets and that can be a factor as well. its possible for the injectors to gel as well, you can try some diesel fuel additives as well similar to an octane booster for gas. they also make an winter diesel additive that will lessen the chance of gelling.

glow plugs for that truck are 10-20 bucks per depending and the brand have you checked the glow plug controller to see if the plugs are even working at all

Just guessing here, but since when you turn the key, the pic in the dash that says it's warming up comes on, and you can hear the buzzing of the plugs heating up, just like normal, wouldnt that mean the controller is working?

I think the buzzer is just a buzzer telling you to wait, the plugs themselves don't make any noise.

Get an infared thermometer and see if they're heating up at all. You should be able to just aim it at the plugs under the hood and see a temp increase

He took it into the shop today before I had a chance to check anything. They had it all day and don't know whats wrong  When we drove by it looked like they hadn't even moved it yet.
