is that possible? what would i have to do to get it to mount up if so? it looks like the biggest issue would be if my tie-rods fit those knucles right? do you think my transfercase would be in line w/ everything on the dana60? just wondering cuz i don't want to regear my rearend cuz they don't make 4.30 reverse cut for the front. any help would be appreciated. thanks!

anything is possible if you wanna take the time to cut up the axle and make it fit, not saying you have too. I would take a lot of measurements.

I've seen a couple guys do it when I was looking at a SAS. Your best bet is to find the front axle from a 99+ Super Duty and swap it over. You'll want to grab the rear axle also, so that you have 8 lugs at all 4 corners.

The Super Duty axle is already a Ford part and has the sensors that you need for ABS and whatnot.

yea but i aint tryin to swap out my rear end cuz thats a whole new can of worms (regearing both axles then, plus new rims, plus plus plus). so i guess the dana60 can't go in the front end huh?

I doubt it can a direct swap. You may look at a Dana44 although that maybe lighter than what you were wanting

I know this is blasphemy, but i wonder if the gm 8.25 would mount up and work? i'm tryin to keep my 4.30 in the rearend already, since i have a locker, and its regeared. dont wanna drop coin on 2 axles when one is still perfect ya know?

maybe the dana 50 since its from a ford?

You'll have to check the axle to see where the front driveshaft comes out at. I think its passenger side on fords and drivers side on GM, but not 100%.

The main reason I'd swap the rear also so you don't have to carry 2 spares (6lug and 8lug) Some F250s also came with 4.30s, no locker though...

It'd be as direct a swap as you could get. Get ahold of Solid150 and check out his sas project. Someone else just finished a sas too...

yea, i think the gm's are passenger. i'm leaning heavy towards the dana 50. not too worried bout the front bein 8lug as I run spacers on my truck now, and i would just get a set of 8xWhatever to 6x135 for the front, and still be able to run my current rims.

so lets explore the dana 50 real quick... they came on the F250/Excursions. Would they fit under my truck or would I have to swap out the entire IFS of an Excursion to make the dana50 fit right? Is that even possible? I'd like to keep my IFS since i dont go extreme off-roading.

well the more and more i research this, the more i see i have just 2 basic options:

1)sell my 8.8 and get a 9.75 and 8.8 fr and regear both for 4.10's

    2) save the cash and just put it down on a truck next summer when Truck Month rolls around

    Thoughts?
