O and diesels are ******* expensive. They are so easy to dump money into to make them faster and better. You'd think you'd seen the worst from some ppl on here but just wait. There's guys dropping 6k on wheels and tires, 3k on a turbo, or 12k on a lift. It's serious business haha

a 6.0 with studs and egr delete, and stock vs stock you will blow a 7.3 away , and sound way better while doing it,but i like i like all the ford diesels, no favorites

EGR- exhaust gas recirculation. s'pose to reduce emissions

an EGR delete stops the exhaust from recirculating through the cylinders. EGR causes clogging and overheating, that means blown head gaskets. The EGR and cooler raise the overall temps of the engine which is the last thing a 6.0 needs.

x2 to this, except for the cts for monitoring temps. gauges are the best way to go because they are directly wired to whatever you are monitoring and are real time readings, not processed through a computer. the trans temp shouldnt be trusted, the factory reading on the trans temp gauge doesnt rise and fall, it reads "normal" then will go to the red which is almost too late. with an analog or digital gauge you will read true temps from a sensor on the transmission itself. same with egts, boost, etc... a pain to wire each one individually, but over all you get more accurate readings.

Im sure computer controlled temp readings are good on mild mods, but if you run some serious temps youll want hardwired gauges.

Partially correct. the factory gauges in the cluster are ****. the readings a CTS or scangauge take from the obdII are accurate. the trans on the CTS is spot on and im actually considering getting a physical gauge and showing that :peace:

to break it down you NEED these gauges: EGT, EOT, ECT, Trans and you want: Boost and Fuel pressure. those 6 guages will be what an edge insight CS costs and almost a CTS at that with the egt probe. But the CTS can monitor alot more than just those things and can view 8 PID's at one time. its really worth the money and if you really are serious about a 6.0 and read up on some of the PSD forums youll see that.

one of the things the CTS will not read properly is boost if your running certain tunes. certain tunes like mine will only show the computer that the truck runs about 28 PSI at WOT when it is more like 31 range.
