So I took it 1 step further (with hopes of finding something, I know I know not a good outlook lol) and pulled the Valve Cover. I took some pics to show you guys to see if you see something I dont. Im going to put the valve cover back on tomorrow and call my buddy and the dealer to see what it would cost me to get it diagnosed. Im tired of dicking with it honestly. I will do whatever work it needs myself (as long as its within my experience)
Dropping the truck off in the morning at my buddies shop for him to diagnose for me. Im at an end with anything left to check.
jesus man. still missing? you checked the plugs and proper gapping, checked the injector, checked coil pack and wires, wires look good right? no opening in the wires? did you try spraying water on the wires with the engine on to see if you get any archs for that cylinder wire? hopefully they can figure it out and it aint too expensive.
I tried absolutely everything! I have nothing else I can do on my own. Im still going to repair it myself, he is just going to diagnose it for me.
the compression tester I borrowed wouldnt thread in (it was a cheap one) but thats the first test he said he was going to do. If it comes back alright he is going to check it with a borescope. Im almost convinced it may be a bad PCM or a lead from the PCM to the coil. Hes going to go through it, diagnose the problem and let me know. I will then bring it home and order what I need and get it done. Im ready to spend money on lift and wheels and tires and other accessories instead of trying to fix this thing lol
Back with bad news! :/ Got the call and he told me that he did a compression test and all the cylinders are good (160 to 180) except the #7 it was at 20 psi. He also said while in there with the bore scope he could see piston damage but the valves looked okay. So Im going to pull the motor and have it refreshed so that the truck will last a while at least. Crappy news to get but at least I know whats wrong.
