Hey guys, Need your suggestions or ideas. Has anyone run into this before. My drivers side door doesn't lock when I lock up my suv with the handheld clicker. This doesn't happen a lot but when it does I have to unlock and lock up and then open up the door to see if it locks. I tried it several times tonight but no luck on locking it. I also don't want to keep locking it up and honking my horn (2nd time locking it horn honks). I am waking neighbors up doing it several times tonight. I also tried locking it up using the locks from inside the vehicle and then closing the doors. Still no luck the drivers side door is still unlock. All the other doors are locked but the drivers side door. I parked my SUV next to my bathroom window but I live on a main street. I'm just hoping no one saw what I was doing and noticed that I kept trying and nothing happened. Hopefully tomorrow morning I will still have an suv. Again this doesn't happen very often. I took out all of my belongings just in case something does happen. Cross your fingers nothing happens. Thanks for the help! Jen
Sounds like the lock actuator has gone weak or out all together. Have you tried manually locking it from outside with the key?
Yep sounds like the actuator for sure.. I was gonna ask if you realized you could lock it with the key lol Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk
I can't remember if you have an explorer or expedition... I think explorer, either way it's common for the actuators to go bad. I had 3 go bad in my truck, I replaced them with the cheap eBay ones and 2 out of the 3 went out. I would def suggest spending the money and getting the real oem replacements. I know the 150s, expeditions, super duties and excursions all share the same actuator, but I'm not sure about the explorers. They're kind of the odd man out and don't share parts with anything ha ha. Didn't Explorer have the feature if door was locked from the inside it would unlock as the door was closed to prevent accidental lockout?
So it did it again this evening while I was at work. But when I got home all the doors locked no problem. And no I didn't try with the key (it was 12 am ) when I got home I was freaking tired and my brain wasn't awake.
But when I am locking it all the doors are closed. When I had this first happen I automatically check all my doors force of habit. When I went to check on the drivers side door it opened and this was after I locked all the doors. I guess I will have to check to see how much it will cost. Figures the Exploder doesn't have the same parts as the other trucks. Thank you for the suggestions. SUV wasn't stolen thank god.
