Ok. I had to get the exhaust fixed on my little cat and while I was there I was thinking about doing something to my truck. As many of y'all know I have a 4.6 custom tuned 4.56 gears, gotts mod, k&n filter and e-fans. That's all I have done to my motor/ drive train. I was considering dual exhaust and full cat delete but need to know what will fit my needs and what won't make my truck throw a code. I was thinking 2.5" pipes with a X or H depending on what fit my needs/ wants tone wise, and eater a bullet muffler or something like that. Added up would be great also and mpg if any is able to come out of it, but mostly expect to get a sound. The exhaust I have now sounds good. it's a flow master, not sure which one though. I want something that will help with mpg/ performance if I am going to do anything. I will have it dump before the rear axle because I have no need/ room for tips. Looking for ideas on best sound that isn't so loud it sounds like I am in a loud ass race car, but still have a aggressive growl. --- - J.Wal
hmm i would suggest high flows, similar sound quality as no cats. just read up on f150 online i nthe exhaust section
BAHAHAH one of the most EPIC threads....especially since his mom got in on it. J. Wal you definitely need to look into some high flow cats...Jegs have good prices on them. I also upgrade from a Flowmaster 40 series to a Cherry Bomb Xtreme muffler (not glasspack) and it sounds awesome! Has a very nice growl now and its not obnoxiously loud and its like 4-5 inches long. its tiny as hell so less restriction # 2.5'' Inlet / 2.25'' Outlet Diameter4'' x 9.75'' Oval # 6'' Body Length (12'' Overall)
Hell, lol thanks alot guys. J wal If you go true duel, do not go 2.5" piping. You will lose torque down low but gain in the top end. 2.25" is perfect for velocity. H pipe for deep tone, torque X pipe for mustang like sound, horsepower. An H pipe yields a better torque response, whereas the benefit of an X pipe yield better horse power response when you're operating in the high rpm ranges. I wouldn't necessarily say an X pipe is better because it depends on what you're trying to do. A single cross over/H pipe is usually best for a street car set up unless you're doing racing, in which case cars set up for race applications generally have an X pipe. As for muffler, magnaflow, corsa, borla, or banks all have deep and aggressive tones. Look them up on YouTube and decide. They all sound good. Also dynomax bullets and magnapacks are loud but if your into that sorta ear defying exhaust that's the way to go. Lol remember the longer the muffler. The quieter your truck will be. Hope this helps. Have anymore questions pm me.
