im looking into to doing true duals on my 1997 f150 from where the Y pipe is now just cut that out and run true duals how much feet of pipe would i need if i bend it my self?
just leave it y'd , i went thru all the trouble of makin it true duals on my old truck and u cudnt tell one bit of dif
i'd get under you truck and measure just after the Y pipe to whatever exit you want side exhaust, over axle dump, out the back...and multiply that by two
Ok, to gain something with a new exhaust. 4.6 or 5.4 you will need long tube headers, why long tube headers? How will they increase my hp? Well you see your stock manifolds causes the gases to bounce off each other in the manifold which is causes back pressure and eventually causes a exhaust leak These mod motors are infamous for. Now long tube headers will cause the exhaust to not bounce off each other and will cause a scavenger effect. The exhaust flow is more efficient and cause the gases to be pulled from the cylinder much faster which is a increase in horsepower. Now enough with the headers. High flow cats will help make your truck louder and help the exhaust flow aswell. Behind that. Since you want duel pipes. Add a x pipe or a h pipe. X= more hp h= more torque. Reason these help is because it even outs the exhaust flow and both will cause a different sound. For muffler don't go with chamber cause it will cause back pressure. Now if you have a 4.6 go with 2.25 for piping. With 5.4 2.5 piping. Reason why these sizes. It creates velocity which will make the exhaust very efficent and the most gains with your exhaust.
I know this isn't what you asked. But if you do a exhaust, do it right the first time. You will love this setup.
