I'm wanting to remove my fender trim-flares for painting and am cureous if anyone here has done these and what type of fasteners hold them in place and how much trouble it is gonna be to remove them? Anyone? Mine... What I want them to look like!!
Different year but mine looked like this: And had a few more push fasteners and screws at the bottom which came out easy. I removed those first and pushed up on the flares to release them. Then I removed the fasteners pictured above using a flathead. Heres a how to from another site for your MY: How to Remove & Paint Factory Fender Flares - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans
yeah they pulled right out when I pulled mine off, might want to pick up a set of new ones though so you don't have to worry about breaking them...
I'd agree with you on that myself, but my incentive for painting them isn't just cause I like the painted look. Ford screwed up the injection molding process up on these things and they fade terribly and look awful. I'm using some trim dressing on them every couple weeks but simple driving it in the rain washes it off, so I wanna paint them to fix the issue.
got ya , most people tape them off and paint them with some black paint so they dont have to worry about them anymore
I was searching images to see how some Bfg tko's will look on these wheels and ran across this pic and when I seen how good the painted flares looked I thought "theres my fix for these hideous faded flares"
Well no more trouble than it looks like its gonna be to pull'em off makes it worth the effort to me, and they'll be no worries of gettin paint on the truck!
