actually 4.10's w/ a locker would be perfect for a s/c. the 4.30 has a smaller top end compared to the 4.10, and if you have a s/c, you'll want that extra headroom on the gear. also, if you go a 4.30, you'll bark tires just by touchin the gas. that **** gets annoying. i had that problem in my 72 chevy... had 4.10's hooked up to a 700r/454 combo. being able to do it at whim was fun at first, but it got old and dont even get me started w/ that combo on a wet road

just warnin ya is all. and yea my truck is 4x2 but its got the 4.6 in it.

if you werent s/c, then you would be able to tell the difference between the 2 no problem. but w/ the s/c, its gonna break anything loose, 4.10 or 4.30. do a comparison of the gears to see how much difference that topend is between the two and go from there... here, lemme do some googlin...

Sweet, thanks man. I'm not really worried about top end. Right now my rear end has 3:55 ls. Once I put them 22s on could tell right away those wheels are hell alot stickier then my stockers. How quick does your truck get out of the hole?

check out this link. its from a mustang forum. now i know he is talkin stangs, but you see the difference between a 3.55/3.73/4.10. just imagine the 4.30 to be even lower.

3.55 vs 3.73 vs 4.10 Gear Ratios For The S197

also, before i did my swap, i could get my truck to 110 no problem, 115 a few times even. but since then, the truck is tickin 4K rpm and strugglin to hold 100.

I will never be supercharged. And with buying a house the chances of going to 38s are slipping away for now. So what do I need to get to turn the 35s best. How do I find out if my rear end is open or not?
