HELP!!!! Bike Shifter Sticking

    Ok I have a 2006 midnight warrior 1700. When I shift up everything is fine. But when I downshift the shift pedal just stays down and doesn't reset to the middle, I have to manual reset it with my foot. My friend said I may have been the oil because bikes use motor oil for transmition fluid also. So I had the oil changed and when I picked it up it's still doing it. Any ideas?

    Just talked to the mechanics shop and he said its either what you guys said or it needs to be greeced.

    Took it to the shop right next door to my house after work and it ended up just being rust in the ball and joint of the shift linkage. Guy fixed it and I asked him how much he said don't worry about it.
