ok so I saw on FB :batman2: a guy from an automotive shop was posting up about selling HIDs, he was asking if he should carry more 35W/55W/100W for customers so he would have it on the shelf...

a lot of people said 35W....one guy said: "Why have a 55w or 100w when a regular car amperage can barly power up a regular 35w ballast"

I understand what hes saying...but I had 55W in my heads and they worked real good....but why did he say that? I dont understand. obviously its not good to have HID in halogen housing b/c of the glare...

one guy said 55W burns hotter than 35w, and 100W burns hotter than 55W...would it be hot enough to start melting stuff?

guy says he can special order them.... I know some off road lights can come in a 35, 55 and 70W.

also off road HID lights arnt in a special projecting housing...they look just like the halogens except the back casing is deeper to house the internal ballast for the HID....... so why do they do so well compared to a housing on a truck or car?

Like the 04-08 housing will literally melt anything above 60 watts

i have 35W heads and 55W fogs. of course more power running to the bulb will burn hotter. 100W sounds like a terrible idea to me..

yeah the higher wattages take more energy to burn producing more heat.

I also have heard its hottest when its first firing up, then once it gets going it cools off more. my 55W lights were cooler to the touch than my halogens...
