haven't had one of these in a long while!

This walkthrough is for installing LED bulbs for the tail lights of my 2010 f150. these newer truck DO NOT have flashers. what needs to be done to install LEDs is a set of resistors or load equalizer also need to be installed on the hot and ground side of each turn/stop lamp. thanks again for the resistors, Joe @Roush PSD Interceptor .

    Things needed:
-2 sets of LED bulbs (4bulbs total) I bought some Sylvania Zevo 3157Rs
    -8mm socket
    -electrical tape, good quality
    -solder & soldering iron
    -double sided tape
    -utility knife
first thing first, take the tail light off with the 8mm socket. each housing will have 2 bolts holding it on.

once you get the bolts out pull the housing back, steadily, but firm. remove all bulbs from the housing and set the housing aside.

    BULBS USED

****NOTE**** these bulbs have to go in a certain way. if after installing the bulb, the bulb does not work, pull it out and flip it.

    PLACING RESISTORS
I used some double sided tape to stick the resistors to the inside of where the tail light sits clean it off really good with some brake cleaner and a clean towel.

    DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT

the wires you are looking for on the driver side are GRAY/BROWN (turn) BLACK/GREEN (ground). both the upper and lower bulbs will have the same wire colors. make sure when installing the resistors that one side of the resistor goes to the power side of the bulb, the turn signal wire, and the other side goes to the ground side of the wire.

strip the wire coating away with your utility knife on the wires until you have about 1"-1 1/2" of copper wire exposed, don't cut the wire. that sometimes makes it harder to work with. what I like to do is once the wire coating is stripped, take a something small and spread the copper wire out so there is an opening in the center, forgot to get a picture. put the wire from one end of the resistor through the opening in the copper wire that you spread apart, twist the wire for the resistor tightly around the wire for the bulb and pull tight. do the same for the other wire and then repeat these steps for the second bulb. EACH BULB REQUIRES ITS OWN RESISTOR.

in the box of resistors that was given to me came some of those plastic wire taps, throw them in the trash lol I'm not a fan of them. after you've wrapped your wires tightly, take your soldering iron and solder and solder the wires together. this will ensure a solid connection, wrap tightly with tape.

    PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT

the wire colors you are looking for on this side are VIOLET/ORANGE and BLACK/GREEN. do the same as you did on the driver side. be sure to check operation before reinstalling the tail light housing.

Good thing is you have that short commute.

Now you need the amber Zevo same kind when the head lights come in.

I'll shoot ya a PM on the link to the resistors. $7

I'm waiting my profit sharing check to post to see what I'm getting. If it's posted when I get off, I'll probably order the head lights.
