If you have a loud ticking noise in your 04-08 5.4 your Variable Cam Timing Solenoids may be bad. There have been a couple revisions and you can get the newest ones at your dealer for around $60. This link has a good how-to on the 04-06s. 2007-08 require you to remove the valve covers and do the same thing.

    You need part # 8L3Z-6M280-B

Pictured is all 3 variations of solenoids... The middle is the first revision, and the right is the original.....

Adding this to the to do list :waytogo: so 04 doesn't have to take off valve covers?
