So I took the truck in to replace the rotors pads check the calipers and learned that the disassembly of the HUB is unavoidable... So my hundred dollar do it yourself job just went out the window, so we put it on the lift and the first thing we see is the tie rod end is toast,, explains the big thump I got on the way home from Idaho Sunday.... What a weekend..... Got to love Ford Tough, drove it another 60 miles to get home Sunday and it held together. Guess Im happy I got the Dx today instead of yesterday
tirods are not hard to replace, just requires and alignment after and there cheap like 25 bucks for outer for me
Why was the do it yourself job unavoidable? There's not much to it, just messy. That's one of the other benefits of having a 4x4 with separate rotors. All manufacturers must have wanted to start selling more replacement parts when they started going with unservicable items like sealed tie rod ends with no grease zirk.
Yea, the list I have for upgrades is pretty long, that one just wasn't on my list... My first big expense was rebuild the front brakes only... Still cheaper than a truck payment and nothing is being put on credit
True that man. I love my fifty. Ford will have to come out with a better body style for me evening think about trading lol.
I guess is what I intended to say. Is with the way my front end is designed, the HUB needs to come off to get to the rotor off (I'm just uncomfortable with hubs and making sure I get everything right when they go back together) I really can't complain, this truck has been really fun so far
Man my dad is good at that stuff. Wish he would get on Here and explain how to go stuff. But he hates computers. Also he rebuilt his 67 f100 3 times. Lol
