whats the easiest way to get into the back of it? i want to run all of my lights into the back of the fuse box into an empty fuse slot instead of running the wires into the front of the box and using and already used fuse. hope that makes sense.
It's been a while since I took one out of the truck but there should be 2 bolts that loosen it up. Have you seen those things that attach to your fuses and let you connect the wires the right way with connectors? They are easy to use and you don't have to take anything out.
don't think I've ever seen one of those lol. how does it work? i was just wanting to clean my fuse panel up instead of having all these wires going into different fuses so i was just going to give all of my light switches their own fuse in the panel. i think i might just throw an inline fuse on the switch side and just run it to the battery instead. that sounds like an easier way to do it and it will still clean up my fuse panel.
For sure, I agree it would keep it clean. This was just the most simple way for me. There's the unit that replaces a fuse on the box, that fuse goes into one slot, and the fuse to give power to the new accessory goes in the other. I only had a 20 amp mini, so I put a 15 amp regular blade in line for power. Here's a diagram I made for a write-up on another forum-
hmmm i never heard of that before. i went to Oreilly auto and asked about it and they had no clue what it was lol. i ended up undoing all the wiring to the switches and ran the wires differently to clean it up a little bit and i hung all my relays up too. i just ran a wire from the battery with an in-line fuse to the switch. I just didnt like how i had them before. ill get a few pics if i can later. i've still have to fix the wiring for my nerf-bar lights.
Another thing u can do is add a new fuse box. local part stores sell them. You connect a wire to the hot side then have 6 slots for power. Each one will have there own fuse. You can pick one up for about 10 bux.
Glad you got it figured out Pity. Yeah, they're pretty cool, Old skl (the rhyming was unintentional). I did a little bit of a write up on em if you're interested http://www.fordfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1082
