Is there any mods I need to do when installing headers on a 390 w/automatic C6 trany? I was told the headers hit the engine mount brackets and I would need to raise the engine and put spacer in between the engine bracket and engine mount. Is there a specific brand of headers to bypass this raising of the engine?
I bought FlowTech headers for the '74 360cid. The only trouble I had was needing to remove and reinstall the engine starter. I thought the driver's side would be the most difficult to fit but the passenger was. Check the details info on these David. Flowtech 12540FLT - Flowtech Headers - Overview - SummitRacing.com
I doubt that. I think he bought the wrong headers or wanted a certain type that didnt fit right cause they weren't made for a 67-72 F series. Also 67-77 F series frames were the same. Fords big frame change over year was 77 or 78 on frame fitment.
I saw LMC has frame perches, motor mounts and hardware kits on the 67-72 for $10.95 to $14.95 each depending on application. LMC Truck Parts - Page 40 I saw a rear engine mount for 240 thru 302 on 65-72's and a rear engine mounts for 360-390 68-72 but no listing for a rear engine mount on a 67.
I never heard of rear engine mount. My 390 came out of a 68 truck. The 360 and 390 wasnt introduced in truck til 68. I supposed to have a 352 in my 67. Rear engine mount is the trany mount.
