    What does everyone think?

I had an old 1987 f150 300 straight 6 with the granny gear 4 speed and that som***** would chug right along.

Also had my 1997 with an automatic and that truck was great to me for the time i had it.

Just wondering what everyone thinks about transmissions.

How do the 4.6 motors with 5 speeds stand up to the competition?

stay auto.. the manuals that were rarely put behind the 4.6 were weak IMO..

theres a few built Lightning guys who are runnin Viper 6 speeds. I would rock one. otherwise in a truck auto. wont burn up the trans/clutch.

personally I prefer a manual, if you know what your doing to shouldn't burn anything up.

back a box trailer full of heavy wet mulch into a tight spot next to your barn and fence, uphill...I do that every year, with my brothers truck I can always start smelling the clutch, my truck, no problems :rockit:

    to each their own though.

Y'all can have a damn manual in a fullsize pickup. In Rangers and other small to mid size trucks a manual is okay. With the exception of a Lightning with the Viper 6 Speed, the only transmission for me is an auto in a big truck.

Now cars...totally different story. The Focus ST I'm looking at is manual. I needs to slam gears in a corner carver!
