So I got a ticket today... I knew my tires were throwin the speedo off, but 20%? I'm checkin it today w/ a GPS app I downloaded. My question though, if my tires are throwing my speedo off by 20%, wouldnt my mileage be off by 20% as well? So for instance, if I get 300mi on the tank, it really equates to 360mi?
Roughly, wich also means that your truck is not counting accurate mileage for the odometer. What size fuel tank do you have? edit- Also, the best way to find out exactly is to use the GPS to drive exactly one mile and compare that to the trip meter in the truck. Find the % of error there and you'll be golden.
yea, i figured my odo was off as well. not too concerned with that since it reads 39k on a lariat cluster in a XLT truck lol. I have equated my mileage by hand (google maps mileage from home to work DIVIDED BY total gallons). I have the 28 gallon, however can only get 27+ whenever I fill. I can go to & from work 4 times then I am empty. 42.5 mi 1 way, 95 miles round trip + 5 miles @ lunch = 100mi 400 miles @ 27 gallons = 14.8 Thats about right. My truck reads 12.5 mpg at the end of every tank, @ 20% would be 15mpg. I'll do a reset next week when I drive 4 days straight and recheck. Thanks, i'll try the gps vs trip. Guess I was doin 85 lol.
livin life and bein good. how bout dem BEARS huh? Those chargers have turned it around too, however they always shine Nov/Dec/Jan
the quick answer is yes it would throw everything off. To test Drive 60MPH for a minute and see what the odometer reads if your off by 20% you should be at 1.2 miles
He doesn't know if he's exceeding the limit cuz his speedo is off, and I would drive 10 miles, one isn't enough.
One is enough if you're using GPS to calculate the difference vice your trip meter. 10 is ok, too but whatevs.
I thought i was going the speed limit, based on my cluster sayin I was doin 70. I'll GPS on the way home and see what it says.
