Small bump. Can't get it started yet, seems like the flywheel isn't moving... Going to try and tow start it this weekend. Hopefully the weather clears up soon.
Pull the plugs and put in a little bit of marvel mystery oil into the cylinders then let it sit over nite. Good thing to do for an older motor that's sat around. Also if your having problems with it still let me know cause I know these motors pretty well. May have a spare flywheel around here and starter
That's the plan. I already replaced the starter on it. I think it's just sat for so long the pistons are sticking. I'm going to pull the plugs and let them soak tonight.
Alright, yanked the plugs and soaked them with PB Blaster friday night when it started to rain...then got 4" of snow on Saturday and had plans all day today. So maybe tomorrow I'll get her started. If she doesn't crank over on her own I'm going to need to find someone to help tow start....
oh dude i forgot to mention i think depending on the year i have a HEI distributor and plug wires thatd fit that motor that id give you cheap. I bought em for my mustang but they dont clear the cobra air cleaner
The motor is an 82. I'll let you know later this summer when I can pick it up. If I can't get it started soon I'll have to do a rebuild... The hard part is deciding how much of a rebuild to do Just new gaskets and seals are cheap, new stock pistons and everything is about $200, but edlebrock has a complete upper kit that's good for 400hp for about $1800....
That's 100% a faulty starter solenoid. It makes that noise when it doesn't make good contact. Or the wiring is completely faulty going I it. You could try taking a screw driver and arcing across the front two terminals On the solenoid.
Correction!!! I just took some pics of a solenoid in the stang.( same solenoid) There are 4 posts on the solenoid. ( looking at the front of the of the solenoid) the one on the left goes to positive battery. The one on the right goes to the starter and the two in the middle come from the ignition switch when your cranking it. Here's a pic I just took of how to bypass the switch with a screwdriver, just place it firmly across the two posts I have in the picture ( turn the key in the truck to on position if you want it to try to start). Be careful of sparked and wear gloves!
