Need to decide on cams asap. Rotating assembly should be finished soon and I need to order cams, timing components, gasket set, and head studs.. My brain hurts. Lunch time.
Just go cobra cams, cheap. And you know they'll work good for what you're wanting. But yet still cheap enough you could change down the road
Thinking about just keeping stock intake too... With a 5.0 intake im looking at new throttle body, new fuel rails and theyd need to be fabbed up to fit/mount to intake, remote iac, possible issues with injector bosses, and ive read that its not even a direct match with adapter plates and that you still have to grind the heads to get them to sit flush. I could just get my navi lower intake ported and matched to the heads.. hmm... cobra cams are $150 compared to $1300 comp cams lol Also forgot to mention the issue with the coolant crossover not fitting.. I think ill be looking into the head cooling mod as well.. looks to me like the coolant hose just "T"s into the two heads and you run an inline thermostat..
Timing chain and guide kit for 4v... $439.99 Looks like ill be going with the cheaper cobra cams for sure now.
That was for a Ford timing kit. Havent looked at any others. Whatd you end up going with for your 2v?
I've got a cloyes setup on there right now. Was about $180 for the crank sprocket, two chains, and guides and tensioners. Cloyes makes good stuff. They also have adjustable cam sprockets I looked at
Ill have to look into that. Adjustable cam sprockets are for degreeing them? Never looked too far into the difference in the actual parts. Probably wont need chains or gears but it wouldnt hurt for only $180 bucks...
Basically, letting you advance or retard the cams. But just remember, never go full retard haha. Those were 2v prices but I assume 4v are similar
Thats what I meant when I said degree them lol Ill have to look for some when I find some free time. Busy schedule these next couple of days. Got money for parts im ready to spend it!!!
