Making it mandatory for me to stop by the shop in the morning and get this engine stuff figured out. Hopefully they know a little something about these modular engines to help me decide on piston dish, cam size, etc. Thats all I'm really stuck on.

I read that Mahle 16cc dished pistons will yield a 8.99:1 CR while their flat tops will make 10.82:1.
$559.22 for a set of 8 with pins, rings, and locks.

Comp cams stage 1: 226/230 @.050 .550 lift. Valve springs recommended and PTV clearance needs to be checked.

Seema as though a spring upgrade and TC upgrade are in store if I go with stage 2 cams with a higher lift and I'm not sure if I want to do springs... haven't decided.

Ill be back with more info tomorrow after talking to machine shop!!! :D

I'd like to hit 300hp. The more the better but I'm pretty much sticking with new pistons, cams, and possibly springs depending on the cam. Stock crank and rods. Heads have been ported and resurfaced and block will be re honed and bored .020 over.

Those mahle pistons would be for dropping the cr if you were running big boost, the flattops would help make some power but youd need premium fuel. 226/230 isn't that much duration, it's really pretty mild, what's the lobe seperation on those cams?

I'd have to double check the website tomorrow, I'm at work right now. They are comp cams stage 1 for 5.4 you can find em pretty easily on MMR.com.
