50% / 50% mix of water and coolant never has failed me. 30% / 70% of water to antifreeze in extreme climates. Dude came in the parts store in 1993 saying we "owed" him an engine he just rebuilt. Said the parts store brand of antifreeze overheated his engine and he used it at 100% antifreeze. Told him to call company corporate number in Charlotte, NC with his problem.
Yeah the high speed fan on drivers side. I wired it to a relay and a switch in my cab so I think I might have blown a fuse. Still need to look at it. I'm talking to a guy on another forum who seems to have some info too he just went through something similar. Dunno if Ill have time to figure it out today or not. Sent from my Galaxy S3
you shouldn't even need that high speed fan (smaller fan) I set my temp control to 200 I think it was, low speed fan kicks on and temp drops within minutes. only time I use that high speed fan is if im sitting still and I have the AC on.
Well one fan isn't doing the job obviously lol I'm thinking maybe my radiator is bad? Fan kicked on at about 196 today when I just let it idle until it was warm. It just doesn't keep it cool enough... Sent from my Galaxy S3
well wtf? when was the last time you changed your coolant? maybe try and spray your radiator down with the hose. I know our trucks radiators at work get so dirty that they run hot as hell. had one pulled last week, you wouldn't believe the amount of **** I sprayed out of the fins.
Last time I changed it was when I blew my head gasket 10k miles ago. It doesn't look perfect but its not milky brown like it use to be lol when I had my radiator out during that time I powerwashed it and flushed it but it could have gotten dirty/muddy since then. Sent from my Galaxy S3
Just pulled the fans off a little and power washed the radiator. It had a layer of dirt on it. Seems to be helping a lot with my coolant and tranny both. I'm sitting around 196 for coolant and 150-160 for tranny. Does that sound right? Sent from my Galaxy S3
sounds about right. my tranny sits around 150-180 engine temp was always between 185-200. I think our thermostats open at 185 or 190.
6 bucks at the carwash.... That was an easy fix lol Ill keep you guys updated if it starts acting up again. Sent from my Galaxy S3
