Well today i crawled up under my truck on the creeper with a pull handle and sockets in an attempt to get the squeek out of take offs thinkin maybe the ubolts where loose. Well I was able to put 1/2 to 3/4 turns on most the nuts. Havent drove the truck to see if that was the problem.

Heres my question, while i was looking around I noticed 2 things...1 is the rear diff cover has flaked the paint off and is coated with rust, and 2 there was an odd lookin tube running from frame rail to frame rail over the axle that had hoses that appeared to goto the gas tank and a cpu box near it. What is it???

I took a pic but i guess i havent mastered my new phone b/c i cant find it to post it.

Not sure about the gas tank thing, but I'd say go ahead and get ya an aftermarket diff cover. I've seen a video of a guy replacing his and it was rusting on the inside and the oil was really nasty.

Charcoal canister. There is a barametric pressure sensor going to it and thats it. Theres hoses that go to the gas tank. It vents the gas fumes.

ok thanks, so its basically some bs an engineer came up with to fill up empty space and add more crap to have to fix when it goes bad. Sometimes i wonder what they'll come up with next

Yup. pretty much. I took it off my truck because it was in the way when we notched it. I took the sensor out of it, plug it back up, and zip tied it to the frame. I dont have any CELs either.
