    Where I'm @ just about anything goes unless it's blue, red or
    blindingly bright.

    I'd say you view the color and intensity of the bulb as if you
    were an approaching vehicle to your truck and decide if it seems
    "DOT" compliant.

    If you have any reservations about it not passing, then a law
    enforcement official may have the same nit picking reason to pull
    you over about it.

    Those newer vehicles almost always have projectors, led DRL or
    some type of led headlamps nowadays.

    @NicKlaus

    I just ordered a set of Auxbeam F-S2 9003/H4 72 watt
    for the wife's Mazda Tribute.

    I chose to stay around the 36 watt per bulb range
    nearly same as factory, because I've bought led bulbs
    in the past that were to bright on low beam.

    So tired of replacing standard halogen bulbs every
    6-8 months it seems.

    Even been through the Sylvania SilverStar Ultra,
    they seem to last less than the regular halogens.
