having an issue with drive shaft noise at least that's what I think it is. new U joints, all caps are seated fully and clips are in place. I have no vibrations at high speeds or noise. the sound I am getting is at lower speeds 10-25mph. cant seem to figure out what the noise is. un-installed shaft and spun rear tires, I don't hear anything abnormal. spun the driveshaft and trans, don't hear a thing SO im thinking it has to be the shaft itself or something isn't at the right position. transmission seems like it might be too high causing the drive shaft to have a sharp angle, could this be the cause?????? last time I took the mount back the old mount was much lower than the new mount, if this is the case, that could be my problem. just picked up a new part but wont know if there is a difference in the parts until I take the old one off. pain in the ass. I have had issues with my truck eating through transmission mounts like mad, im on my 4th one already. I tried to lower the trans as much as it would go at the mount...seems like it might have made a slight improvement but im not 100% sure. can some of you guys with 10th gen truck take some pictures of your shafts at the transmission for me? thanks guys.
4r100 is quite a bit longer than the 4r70w. Im not too familiar with the two but ill snap some pics for ya. Where exactly do you need pictures? Just of the driveshaft angle and the mounts? Or how high the transmission is sitting on the mounts?
the only thing im really concerned about is where the driveshaft meets the transmission. seems like It might have too much pitch but I could be wrong. this problem is a headache. anyone know if there is supposed to be any play at where the driveshaft meets the rear diff??? I have a small amount of play up and down. heres the thing, I have no vibrations at all so maybe my problem isn't the shaft at all but I cant figure out wtf this rubbing is, only happens at lower speeds. truck drives like it always has on the highway and cruising at 45-50 mph. pulled one rear tire off to check brakes, everything looks good. going to pull the other rear tire off in a bit.
Ok so I tried my best.. Transmission mount on crossmember From rear looking forward at t case Side view of driveshaft exiting t case I only have one trans mount on that one crossmember the rest is free standing. Probably not gonna help but I can try to get more if u want.
perfect! thanks Thomas! looks like you don't have any pitch at all. ill have to take a picture of mine tomorrow and put it up for comparison to show you what im talking about. when I got to work today my dad sent me a text with a picture of a rubber bushing that was laying in his driveway. im wondering if its from my truck. a bad or missing motor mount would cause the motor to fall which could hike the transmission up??? maybe? I don't know what the bushing is for, I don't recognize it. guess ill find out tomorrow.
can anyone identify this? called ford to see if they could tell me what it is by the part number but they couldn't find it. it is a ford part.
From the second pic on bucket it sure looks motor mount like. Whatever it is should be under warranty.
