Yea probably not a bad idea but the dang thing runs all the way to the back of the truck. It's just worn through insulation and its taped up good. I guess we'll see if the problem reappears. It's probably tail or trailer lights. actually to be honest I haven't traced it too far, my friend was following it when we were doing my plugs and that's what he said...haha Sent from my Milestone X using Tapatalk 2
Well they worked fine all day (turned them on and off more times than I care to count) but didn't shut off right away when I got home. So I turned the switch back on and then off, still didn't go off so I pulled back on the high beam toggle and let go real quick and they shut off. Went down and started playing with the high beam switch. screwing around with it seems to have a definite effect on whether or not the lights shut off. I did figure out how the fog lights work though. Why they stay on with the high beams. That relay that is of by itself has 5 legs. One is unused, one is power from batt. one is spliced to the low beams, and the last one is splice to the high beams. Unplugging this relay makes it so the fog lights only work with the lows and not the highs. Next time the lights stick I'll remove this relay, in case it is sending power to the lows when it shouldn't be. Sent from my Milestone X using Tapatalk 2
Say the high/low switch (MFS) on the steering column is iffy? Trying to understand why the PO of your truck had a third relay connected to the high beam circuit, maybe they wanted a toggle function between high beam fogs on and low beam fogs on. This diagram would simplify the circuit and the fogs would only come on with high beams. Now even more simple would be a switch inside the cab to run the fogs. the fogs could be on with high beams or low beams. Run the yellow high beam connection to a switch inside the cab. The other side of the switch to fused ignition + or even fused battery +. Fused battery + would let you have fogs on with the truck running or not running but when you leave truck you would have to remember to switch off fogs.
Two relays control the lights behind the grill...the four hellas. The third relay is what allows the fog lights to stay on with high beams. I don't understand how it works but it does and I love it that way. My lights were sticking again today. I took that third one out, screwed around with that lights and couldn't get them to stick again, so I replaced the relay. We'll see what happens. Sent from my Milestone X using Tapatalk 2
Just an update, haven't had a problem since replacing the relay. Sent from my Milestone X using Tapatalk 2
