I got a new grill on CL, good deal, I was just going to get an 05+ and mod it, but my clips were all broken so it was only held halfway in. So I figure 50 bucks is worth having a nice solid intact grill until I can get an 05+ and take my time to mod it and paint it etc... I like the insert better than my billet insert, the paint kept chipping off of it and junk. The inside of my old one was all cut out by the previous owner and it looked funny in person, so having a nice full H bar behind there is nice, I herculined the grey in H bar part so if I get sick of the insert I can always take it off to have a nice black and chrome grille again, just a little different than the billet. I think itll look better when my harley heads come in. again, ONLY TEMPORARY UNTIL I FIND A DEAL ON AN 05+ and mod it to my liking. Sent from my iThingy using Tapatalk
Nope, considering most regular grills are going for about 100 in good shape. I still have the billet insert so If i find I dont like the insert I can throw my billet back on. Im on the fence. ha ha WHY AM I SO PICKY!
Its not bad. i think the abundance of chrome is what is throwing the total look off. reminds me of the Superchief grill they were taunting.
^^^ yeah, thats the problem Im having, Its a lot of shiny, its not really chrome because its aluminum, but it looks like too much bling. I thought it would look good kid of like the 2012 with the chrome grille, but its not coming together like id hoped. In the end at least the factory grille behind it is replaced ha ha thats what I was going for. I ordered my harley heads, and Im making some bumper mounts for my KCs that are black so Ill see how I like it when all thats done. Im afraid if I paint it im going to have the same chipping problem I was having with my billet. I tried roughing it up and useing self etching primer and some heavy duty paint but it still chips.
