    No Start Condition

Its winter time so i figured i would post something up to try and help you guys out if you're having trouble with your battery and your car wont start or if you think your starter is bad. This test is simple and you don't need any tools to perform it. just your truck. What this test will tell you is whether you have a bad battery, bad starter, or a simple resistance at the battery cable ends.

Turn your headlights on and crank your engine. Observe your headlights when cranking your engine.

Recommended that you only crank the engine for 15-30 seconds at a time so you don't burn anything out.

    STARTING HEADLIGHT TEST

    1. Lights don't come on at all even before cranking engine
    -Dead battery (simple)
-unlikely but, both bulbs burnt out

2.Lights dim slightly OR stay bright
    -Starter solenoid circuit problem
    -Ignition switch circuit resistance
    -Possible open in starter circuit

    3.Lights dim heavily
    -Mechanical starter problem
    -Mechanical engine problem
    -Low battery

    4.Lights go out when cranking
    -Resistance at cable ends
    -extremely low battery

hopefully this will help some of you out!
let me know if youve got any questions.

I hope it does. i've got some other useful tests and procedures dealing with the battery and starting system. They can all help with checking whether your battery is good or bad or with finding something that is drawing battery power when it shouldn't be.

hahaha forgot to add that its best to do this at night when you can see your lights on your garage door or a building. or just have a second person watching.
