i'm running aFe Stage 2 kit. Only thing I had to do was add the Diable MAFia so that it got my MAF back in the correct voltage range and stopped runnin lean. Have had this on the truck for 4 yrs now, and clean the filter every 15k. Never had to clean my MAF sensor either. Twinskrewed - thats a killer box! Makes me wanna build out mine now too haha.
I pray to God these re-calibrated tunes fix my problems but I may have to do the same thin if they don't. Sent from my iSmarty 4
They should help. The stock MAF is limited to 983 counts and 5 volts. A tuner who knows what he is doing can open it up to 1023 if he has the software (SCT). As an example my MAF counts are currently at 975 at 5600rpms and 124mph. Thats making 11psi. The stock MAF is more than capable of anything you can throw at it. It's just a matter of the tuner having the knowledge and software to do it. The Mafia from Diablo puts this capability in your hands or at least thats what I have read so far.
thats exactly what it does. it puts the voltage back in the 3-5 range that the MAF is desiring. There are 9 different settings, ranging from lean to rich, so you can dial in the difference, and the truck gets put back right. thats what I had happen when I first put on my aFe Stg 2. got the MAFia wk later and haven't thrown a rich/lean code since. But thats nice to know that the SCT can take care of this. I have the SF3 and am looking into custom tunes for it (87 economy/93 EXTREME) so if i do, then i might have a MAFia for sale lol.
Which engine do you have? The 2004-2006 5.4s need custom programming to run an air intake properly. All intakes are practically the same. Gotts Mod is the cheapest/easiest and will give you 90% of the gain of a CAI for about $10. http://www.fordfullsize.com/forum/f75/how-gotts-mod-2215/ Roush is pretty fancy, but an Airraid is the same thing, just a different name. $330 vs $250 I'd personally go with an aFe because of the closed box design, but I got a JLT for $100 shipped
